This is one of the oldest, most recognizable, and most universal of all American fiddle tunes, dating back to well before the Civil War. Ed and I recorded this while busking in Harvard Square. Ed is playing clawhammer style in double C tuning, capoed on the 2nd fret, and I amd three-finger picking in open D tuning.
